This workshop will give the participant and introduction into Sashiko stitching.
Sashiko is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching from Japan. This running stitch technique is often used for to mend the worn area of the clothing and showcase the new beautiful embroidered handiwork. The white cotton thread on the traditional indigo blue cloth (said to resemble snow falling around old farm houses) gives sashiko its distinctive appearance.
No prior experience needed ! Participants will receive their very own sashiko stitching kit and you’re encouraged to bring your own garment for stitching.
